This OBDII Interface provides a quick way to record the vehicle’s engine RPM, this is specially useful with diesel engines, in which neither the capacitive clamp nor inductive clamp can acquire the engine speed.
Features:
USB Interface, 6 meter cable lenght (cable transmits serial data to reach higher noise immunity, USB adaption is provided only at the end of the cable)
This interface is managed directly by SportDyno (3.8.3+), it does not depend on the SP1/SP3/SP4/SP5 version
Supports all OBDII protocols:
SAE J1850 PWM (41.6Kbaud)
SAE J1850 VPW (10.4Kbaud)
ISO9141-2 ( baud init,10.4Kbaud)
ISO14230-4 KWP(5 baud init,10.4 Kbaud)
ISO14230-4 KWP (fast init,10.4 Kbaud)
ISO15765-4 CAN (11bit ID,500 Kbaud)
ISO15765-4 CAN (29bit ID,500 Kbaud)
ISO15765-4 CAN (11bit ID,250 Kbaud)
ISO15765-4 CAN (29bit ID,250 Kbaud)
SAE J1939 CAN (29bit ID,250*Kbaud)
Gets powered from the vehicle’s battery (12V, 45 ma)

In this window the computer shows the available PIDs (car channels), and the user can select those PIDs that want to acquire. This is useful for slow protocols like K-line, to avoid low sample rates per channel. In the example only Engine RPM and speed are selected
Battery voltage is provided by the OBDII interface, not by the car, so it consume less communications time.
After selecting which channels are going to be used in the system, these channels can be used either on the Ratio Window or during the recording of the test.

This screenshot shows the following OBDII channels: battery, engine RPM and speed (dark)
Note that the data provided by this car is slow because it is based on K-line. This is the reason only two channels have been selected. On cars using CAN or other protocols speed is much higher.
We are preparing an improved algorithm to obtain the data at the fastest speed available, and to interpolate the data so the graphs are high quality in the next Software version.

List of OBDII channels is added to the main Channel List of the program, so they can be displayed in the Gauges Window.
